Chapter Four
It is innovative to be capable of filtering search results on the web, but I can imagine it would be difficult to find anything if it is not available as an option since there is so much information. Even though I do not use the filtering options every time I browse on the sites I visit, there will be occasions when it is necessary to select certain filters if there is something new that I want to find such as a rare movie that barely anyone talks about. What I do agree with in the chapter is how the weather is never accurate because I get informed about an upcoming storm, and it never comes into my area. I have odd predictions that Pennsylvania is one of those states that makes the environment abnormal because of the strange occurrences regarding the weather, with one moment that happened where it would be raining over where I live and then it suddenly becomes sunny. I would not be surprised if the forecast does not help ever since I found out how this state is horror oriented with a lot of movies like The Blob and The Crazies being filmed here.
As much as I would consider copyright to be a fair law, I unfortunately have to say that it is not great even though this law can be used in a better way. There were instances when reviewers on YouTube would end up getting a video removed because of supposed copyright infringement besides the fact that he or she edited as much content of the piece of media as possible. Copyright law clearly states that people are allowed to use the creator’s material for criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research, yet people who follow this rule still get punished despite this. I am aware that certain media can go into public domain, but I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to do that when I feel that people would hold onto the rights of his or her property just to gloat that the person created something unique. The only media I am aware of that would be in the public domain is music and books that were written in the sixties or earlier since the law did not come into play until the seventies. Honestly, I would not be surprised that any of my instructors would end up getting sued for copyright infringement when they show examples of logos that they show for the class.
